CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH TRUTH, HONESTY, AND SINCERITY

Guild members must maintain the highest possible ethical standards in all its business transactions and services with the public and the industry.

A. WITH CUSTOMERS – Members shall not engage in unethical, false, misleading or deceptive business practices designed to deceive clients. Merchandise may not intentionally be misrepresented as to its nature, authenticity and/or origin.

1. Jewelers should be accurate in declaring a diamond's weight, color, clarity, carat, and cut.
   
2. Markings of 14k, 18k, pt950, 925 and others, should have the correct metal content.
   
3. Give customers the correct information regarding each gemstone being sold as to whether this is natural, treated, synthetic, or imitation.
   
4. Members should fulfill all conditions of their guarantee and service policies as presented to their customers. Repair or replace merchandise found to have a factory defect.

B. WITH FELLOW JEWELLERS - Maintain professionalism in dealing with members of the industry.

1. Members shall not make any statements about a competitor or another member's reputation, merchandise, or business practice that may be false, misleading, or defamatory.
   
2. Members shall respect the business and working policies of other members.
   
3. Members must not coerce, bribe , or induce others to violate association rules and regulations.
   
4. Members should not use the association's name for personal gain.
   
5. Members should not pirate the workers/employees of other jewelers.
   
6. Members should not claim to be an exporter when they are not.

C. WITH EMPLOYEES OR WORKERS - Members must protect the industry from opportunists, thieves and swindlers.

1. Members should report workers who were caught stealing gold/stones or changing stones or other malpractices.
2. Members should report customer or agents who have swindled jewelers.
